In May, Pure Joy Missions started a new program called "Club Exploradores," a weekly gathering where the children in the area surrounding the city garbage dump learn about Jesus, play games, sing songs, and we pray, experience the love and hope found in Christ. We have been blown away by God's faithfulness over this program-- from collaborating with other nonprofits, to having a great attendance, to having Guatemalans volunteering to help, we are so thankful! Thank you to everyone who has supported Pure Joy. Because of you, we were able to start this program and continue to show God's love to the children in the community surrounding the city dump. Stories from our Staff: When the new program for the children by the city dump began, incredibly, a large number of children came. From that moment, I could see that God was already working in these children’s lives. Maybe they were excited because of the games, songs, or snacks, but God has something special prepared for them each week that can change their lives. This program also gives us an opportunity to share love with these children, a love that they do not receive in their homes. We, as staff of the ministry, have the great privilege to be part of this program. In every class, we can see how the children have a desire to learn about Jesus and how they are learning to put what they learn about into action. We feel privileged and blessed to be a part of this program and thus fulfill Proverbs 22:6, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” -Gerson Thanks be to God that the new program for the children living near the city dump has began. We were surprised when 90 children came the first week! It is incredible how God opens doors so that these children can receive and know His love. Before we began the program, many of the children asked me, Christian, “we miss the tutoring program a lot and we miss all of you. When is it going to begin again?” I also missed spending time with these children— I missed playing with them, laughing with them, talking with them. I couldn’t wait for the day when the new program would begin. When we started the new program, my heart filled up with joy and happiness. Once again, I could receive a hug from each one of them and could share a beautiful friendship with them. It's amazing how big and great is our God to do something amazing like this, to share this time with 90 children each week makes us very joyful. Wow— 90 children, 90 children that want to learn about God, 90 children that God wants to transform and fill with love, 90 children that God has put in front of us to guide and teach His Word, 90 children that need a change in their lives. We are instruments of God to do something great in the lives of these children. We are instruments to transform and make a difference in them. I cannot wait to see the great things that God will do in their lives and in our lives too. Thank you all for your support and prayers. They are a blessing for all these children and for us too. God bless you. -Christian

By Pastor Roni, Ministry Director in Guatemala Recently, I had the opportunity to take Rosa who works at the city garbage dump and her daughter, Katy, to the eye doctor. Katy had a severe eye infection for three weeks that prevented her from attending school. On the way to the eye doctor, Rosa said, “Thanks be to God that there are people that care about us here in the garbage dump and that help us.” I responded, “Me too, I thank God that there are people in the United States that have decided to help this place. We should pray for them.” Rosa then said, “There was a time when no one was interested in helping us, but I thank God for Pure Joy Missions.” When we arrived at the clinic, the eye doctor said, “What great work this organization does, I am not going to charge you anything. And whenever someone has problems with their eyes, ears, or throat, please, bring them here and we will help them.” I returned to the house with great joy because God is opening doors to help more people.
