Yeni

Mission Director

We met Yeni & her husband Selvin several years ago at the school by the dump. Selvin was a gym teacher for the Crea after-school tutoring program. Before each class, he would bring a bag full of little Bibles & read with the children. His love for Christ & this community was evident. The same was true for Yeni, who volunteered at the after school program. When we started Club Exploradores, Yeni & Selvin both volunteered to help. In November of 2016, Yeni joined our team full time. Her grounded faith, kind heart, attentive mind, and joyful spirit has been such a blessing to our team & to each ministry. She is the heart and face of Pure Joy in Puerto Barrios, and we are so grateful to have her as our current director. 

Josafat

Missionary

Josafat joined our team in 2026. He was an answer to prayer as we have been desiring to have a missionary who could be an example for the teen boys in our programs. Josafat has a passion for sharing the love of Jesus with children and teens. His loving, dynamic and fun personality along with his selfless and hardworking nature make him such a great addition to our team. Josafat lives in Puerto Barrios with his wife, and they enjoy serving together at their church.

Francis

Missionary

Francis & his wife Andrea joined Pure Joy full time in January of 2020. Andrea & Francis first met on the mission field in Puerto Barrios. Since then, they have been obedient servants to our Father and have served with YWAM in both Malaysia and Guatemala for several years. They then felt God call them to return to Puerto Barrios, a place God keeps bringing them back to to serve in in missions, and a place strongly on their hearts. We are so thankful for their willingness to come and serve. They are both kind, joyful, hardworking, and compassionate. We feel so blessed to have them as a part of our team! Currently, Francis works part-time with Pure Joy but spends most of his time serving with Exago, an organization who helps missionaries around the world raise the financial support they need to be on the mission field.

Heidi

In 2016, Heidi joined our team as a part-time missionary. She was a great blessing and helped lay the foundation of several of our ministries. She then became a teacher and volunteered with the ministry occasionally. Heidi joined us as a full-time missionary in 2024. We have been so blessed by her organizational skills and passion for teaching children.
